Starting September 5, we will be having our worship gatherings on Sunday mornings at 1210 Palm Terrace in Pasadena. We have been meeting at Madison Elementary School, but we will be meeting at the home of Pastor Rodney Walker while we seek a new permanent location. Street parking is readily available on Palm Terrace and Claremont. Signs for the church will be placed on the street to help point you in the right direction.
This is what happens on a typical Sunday at Hope:
At 10:00am we will share a community breakfast. We welcome and encourage everyone to come at 10:00 because we consider this time of eating together to be part of our worship and not a separate event.
We then sing several songs of praise to God. Sometimes we
sing loudly and energetically, sometimes we sing softly and contemplatively,
and often we cover a range of expressions. Whatever the emotion, we always sing
to express our love for God. We often sing in both English and Spanish.
After some short announcements, we take a few moments to
greet and welcome one another.
Pastor Rodney Walker or someone else then gives a message
based in the Bible. These sermons are geared to be very practical and directly
applicable to our daily lives, and last about twenty minutes. Sermons are in English.
While the sermon is going on, any elementary school age
children are invited to their own kids’ time where they play fun games and
learn a short lesson from the Bible. Kids are also welcome to stay and hear the
sermon.

After the talk is over, kids and adults come back together
for members of the church to give offerings. A member of the church family
offers a final public prayer, and then the worship service ends around 11:45am.
